Obstetric Ultrasound

Obstetrical ultrasound is safe and painless and produces pictures of the inside of the body using sound waves. Ultrasound imaging involves the use of a small transducer and ultrasound gel placed directly on the skin. Then high frequency sound waves are transmitted from the probe through the gel into the body. Ultrasound examinations do not use ionizing radiation, as used in X-rays; thus the patient has no radiation exposure. Becausethe ultrasound images are captured in realtime, they can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs. Ultrasound is a non-invasive medical test that helps your healthcare practitionerdiagnose and treat medical conditions. Obstetrical ultrasound provides images of the placenta, fetus, and amniotic fluid.

During the first trimester, an ultrasound can determine the age of the fetus and screen for potential birth defects, such as Down syndrome. Later in the pregnancy, ultrasound exams measure the size and position of the fetus, location of the placenta, and amount ofamniotic fluid to help identify potential pregnancy and/or delivery complications. The results of this procedure are visible immediately on a computer screen for the doctor and patient to view together.

3D/4D Obstetric Ultrasound

3D/4D obstetric ultrasound is like a regular ultrasound that uses sound waves to create images of your baby in your womb. The difference is that 3D creates a three-dimensional image of your baby, while the 4Dcreates a live video. This allows expecting mothers and families to watch their unborn baby turn, yawn, smile, and suck on a tiny finger. Ultrasounds done in 3D/4D are just as safe as a traditional 2D ultrasound. A 3D/4D obstetric ultrasound can be performed any time after 25weeks of pregnancy. By that point, the baby’s features are distinct. A 3D/4D ultrasound is optional.

The cost of a 3D/4D ultrasound is $150.00 for a singleton and $250.00 for multiples (twins, triplets, etc.).

ATTENTION: Please be advised that beginning Monday, October 28th, the Indianapolis campus’ elevator modernizations are scheduled to begin for the two passenger cabs! We will do one elevator at a time and each one will take approximately 10-12 weeks to complete. During this process, we ask that you please use the freight elevator and the open elevator cab while the modernizations are being done. We apologize for any inconvenience during this process but it will be well worth it once the cabs are completed!
